People in the Maharashtra, India always celebrate God Satya-Narayana Puja in their homes every fortnight or month.
When they are suffering from any problem, they say, ‘I do Satya Narayana Pooja.’ After getting rid of the problem, they performed the Satya Narayana Puja.
In all Sai Baba Temples, Sai Satya-vrata Puja is performed instead of Satya Narayana Pooja. People choose to recite the Sai story. It was told in three figurative verses. These were from the book “Bhakta Liyamaruth” composed by Daskanu Maharaj.
Satya Narayana Puja will be held daily at 7 am and 9 am in Shirdi. At the end of the prayer, the priest reads the three stories in Marathi. He reads them on behalf of all the devotees present. Then the offering will be given.
If you have time, please attend the Sai Satya Narayana puja, at Shirdi Mandir(RS.100 per couples), and also do monthly Pooja at your home in front of Satya Narayana picture and get Health, Wealth and Happiness
The father of the boy, Raghunathrao was serving in some foreign mercantile firm in Bombay. As he grew old, he was not able to attend to his work properly and so he had to take leave and rest.
As he did not improve during the period of leave a further extension of leave or retirement from service was inevitable.
The Chief Manager of the firm decided to retire him on pension as he was an old and a reliable servant. The question regarding the amount of pension to be given was under consideration.
He was getting Rs.150/- p.m. and his pension i.e. half the amount viz. Rs. 75/- would not be enough to meet the expenses of the family. So they were all anxious about this matter.
Fifteen days before the final settlement, Baba appeared to Mrs. Tendulkar in her dream and said, “I wish that Rs. 100/- should be paid (settled) as pension, will this satisfy you?” She replied “Baba, why ask me this? We fully trust in You”. Though Baba said Rs.100/- still he was given ten Rupees more i.e. Rs.110/- as a special case. Such wonderful love and care did Baba exhibit for His Bhaktas.
It is well-known that Baba took Dakshina from all. Out of the amount thus collected, He spent a lot on charity. He purchased fuel with the balance left with Him.
This fuel He threw in the Dhuni – the sacred fire, which he kept ever burning. The ash from this fire was called Udi. It was freely distributed to the devotees at the time of their departure from Shirdi.
What did Baba teach or hint by this Udi? Baba taught by His Udi that all the visible phenomena in the universe are as transient as the ash.
Our bodies composed of wood or matter of the five elements will fall down. After all their enjoyments are over, they will be reduced to ashes.
Baba distributed Udi to the devotees. This was to remind them that their bodies will be reduced to ashes.
Baba also taught by the Udi that the Brahman is the only Reality. He taught that the universe is ephemeral. No one in this world, be he a son, father or wife, is really ours. We come here (in this world) alone and we have to go out alone.
It was found and is even now found out, that the Udi cured many physical and mental maladies. However, Baba wanted to din into the devotee’s ears the principles of discrimination between the Unreal and the Real. He emphasized non-attachment for the Unreal, by His Udi and Dakshina.
The former (Udi) taught us discrimination and the latter (Dakshina) taught us non-attachment. Unless we have these two things, it is not possible for us to cross over the sea of the mundane existence. So Baba asked for and took Dakshina.
While the devotees took leave, He gave Udi as Prasad. He besmeared some of it on the Bhaktas’ foreheads. He placed His boon-conferring hand on their heads.
So much about the spiritual implication of Udi. It had also its material significance.
It conferred health, prosperity, freedom from anxiety, and many other worldly gains. So the Udi has helped us to gain both our ends – material as well as spiritual.
When Chakra Narain, a Christian, was appointed as Sub- Inspector at Rahata, some of his followers, who were displeased, went and told Baba, “The new Fouzdar is neither a Hindu nor a Muhammadan but a Christian’. Baba’s retort was What of that? He is my brother’. It must be remembered that Baba was called a Maharaja and looked exactly like a Maharaja in the midst of all regal paraphernalia. His powers also struck Chakra Narain as marvellous, that is, his powers of clairvoyance, and clairaudience, in popular parlance, but known to scholars as Antarjnana or Ritambhara prajna or Pratiba.
In his statement in the book ‘Devotees’ Experiences, Volume I Page 117 in October 1936, he showed some appreciation of Sai Baba
He admitted that he was not a believer in Baba, but he began to admire his noble qualities which he came to know when he was ordered to watch Baba. He and some of his men were watching Baba for various purposes including income tax. He conceived a great regard for Baba because he found that Baba was not moved by kuamini or kanchana (woman or wealth). Many women would come to Baba and place their bare heads on his hare feet and sit close to him. But Baba was totally unmoved.
This fouzdar was asked to watch Baba regarding the money he received from people Here also he had great admiration for Baba. When Baba died, the Government took possession of his cash and the amount with him was only Rs. 16. Yet he was daily giving hundreds of rupees. and Chakra Narain was wonderstruck at the fact that His riches (which they noticed) were limited, and that though there was no stock of cash with him at the beginning of the day, at the end of the day he had paid hundreds of rupees (miracle). Wherefrom did the excess come for him to disburse or pay? The Police could not make out. Therefore Chakra Narain concluded that Baba had divine powers.
In the fourth visit, Baba said to Imam Bhai Chote Khan of Vajapur, “Gulab” has come to your house.” Imam Bhai Chote Khan returned home. He learnt that his wife had recently delivered a male child. That must be the Gulab mentioned by Baba, and so the boy was named Gulab.
In 1936, Chote Khan was badly in need of money to get Gulab married. So he went to Baba and slept in the Mosque. In his dream, Baba blessed him and said, ‘If you go to Poona, you will be benefited’. So, he started off to Poona.
One Mr. Ladkar, suffering from severe piles, came to him. Chote Khan told him that he knew of a saint’s (Sai Baba’s) prescription that would cure piles. Ladkar said, ‘Give it’. Chote Khan then prepared the remedy, and that relieved the man greatly.
Ladkar went at once, and betting on horses at the races in Poona, got Rs. 1,100. Out of that, he gave Chote Khan Rs. 700, and with that money Gulab’s marriage was performed.
