Insights on how to live in this materialistic world, based on the Life and teachings of Shri Sai Baba
- Detachment from perishable things-
- Sai Baba had no love for perishable things and was always engrossed in self-realization. He felt no pleasure in the things of this world or the world beyond.
- Contentment-
- A man ought to enjoy whatever God bestows on him. He should firmly believe that God pervades everything. Whatever is given to him by God must be good.
- Accept whatever comes your way-
- Believe that whatever happens is ordained by God, and is ultimately good.
- Avoidance of greed-
- Unless one gets rid completely of avarice or greed, one will not get the real Brahma.
- Control the Senses-
- Senses run after objects, but we should not follow them and crave for their objects.
- Offer your senses to God-
- Before the senses, mind and intellect enjoy their object. Hence remember God, and if this is done, it is in a way an offering to Him.
- Seeing God in all beings-
- The Upanishads, the Bhagwat Geeta exhort us to perceive God or Divinity in all the creatures.
- Equality–
- Treat rich and poor people the same. Sai Baba did not care for honor or dishonor.
- Differentiate between the Real and the Unreal-
- Through His Udi, Baba sought to impart to the devotee the fundamental principles distinguishing between the Unreal and the Real. He underscored the importance of non-attachment to the Unreal.
- Keep the company of Saint-
- The importance of the company of Saints is very great. It removes body-consciousness and egoism. It destroys completely the chain of birth and death. It cuts asunder all the knots of the heart. It takes one to God, Who is pure Consciousness.
- Have faith in Guru-
- If you believe in Sad-guru’s holy feet, he can change your fortune for the better. If we make Him our Helmsman, we can easily cross over the sea of all our pains and sorrows.
- Remembering Guru-
- Always remember that all actions are known to Sai Baba, who is the inner ruler of all and seated in their hearts
- Love all beings-
- Sai Baba likes nothing but love to all beings.
- Inner focus–
- Direct your attention inwards and hold fast to the handle of knowledge. It waits patiently for you to grasp it and unlock the potential that lies dormant within.
- Perform prescribed duties-
- Do your prescribed duty and surrender your body, mind and five pranas (life) to the Guru’s feet. Guru is God, all pervading.
